TRAVEL TASSIE is based on maps provided by google maps. The system allows you to locate
travel related properties such as accomodation, tours, vehicle hire, attractions etc.
When you have located an item of interest you can double click the map 'icon' to view more infomation and add it to
your trip. You can also double click an item in the sidebar to open the corresponding information window on the map.
You can use the Region and City dropdows to view all of the items in a particular geographic area. The
search box allows you to search the entire map for items that match the search. ie searching on "Golf" will show
all listed golf courses in Tasmania.
In order to get started you will need to enter your arrival and departure dates along with the number of guests. This
will setup the "My Trip" template. At this point you can either use the "Trip Builder" to build a suggested
itinerary based on you preferences or browse the map and select those items you wish to book.
You can view your itinerary at any time by clicking the "My Trip" tab to the right of the map.
One you have built your trip press the "Book My Trip" button located on the "My Trip" tab located to the right of the map,
you will be prompted for your details and payment preferences. When you have confirmed your booking you will be sent an
email detailing your trip and itinerary.
You can view your trips on the "My Trips" page at any time for up to 14 days after your departure date. After this time
the trip will be deleted from the system.

This is the the first step to building and booking your trip.
You will need to enter your arrival and departure dates in the the dropdowns. If you
prefer you can use the popup calendar button located to the right of the date fields.
It is also necessary to specify the number of guests for both adults and children.
Your trip template will then be built, depending on the length of your trip this may take a few moments.
You can see your trip template in the "My Trip" tab located to the right of the main map.
Also located in this box are the search facilities. You can search within a city, an entire region or by using keywords the whole of Tasmania.

The main map is located to the left of the map page. It is possible to zoom in to street level view using
the zoom slider located on the top left hand side of the map. Above the zoom slider is
the pan control, this will move the map in the direction of the arrow. Alternatively you can "drag and drop"
the map to move it. Double 'clicking' the map will center it and zoom in, double "right clicking" the map will zoom out.
There are 3 map 'views' selected by the buttons on the top right of the map. Please be aware that the
satellite and hybrid modes are slower than the map view as the images are larger and take longer to load from google's servers.
On the map are various icons. In the example shown they show the weather for major centres. On the real
map clicking on these will display more information. As you zoom in more icons will appear showing
details of travel related items. These are not shown when zoomed out as there are a large number of them which would
quickly crowd the map.

This is the control panel with three tabs. These are:
Map Detail.
This shows a list of items currently visible on the map. When zoomed out
it will show abridged help instructions. As you zoom in this will be replaced
with the names of items currently visible on the map. Clicking either the name in the list or
the icon on the map will show you further information and allow you to add it to your trip.
Map Legend.
This is the map legend, items can be hidden or shown on the map with this tab. eg you
may only be interested in self-contained accomodation so you can un-tick hotels, motels,
caravan parks etc. The category items shown here match those on the map.
My Trip. Shows details for each day of your trip. Cick on a day to expand and show the detail.
Days which are ticked have accomodation added to that day's itinerary. Those crossed do not yet have accomodation.
You can delete any item from the day by clicking on the delete icon to the right of the item.
Once you have built your itinerary you will need to click the 'Book My Trip' button located on this tab. You will then be prompted
to review and pay for your trip.

Common Questions and Anwers
What is the 'Trip Builder'?
The system will build a suggested itinerary based on your preferences. This is useful
if you are unsure as to exactly what possibilities are available. You are able to edit the results of
the Trip Builder by using the My Trip tab located to the right of the map.
I'm looking at the map but can's see any items?
This can be caused for 3 reasons. Firstly you need to zoom the map. The map only shows items at higher zoom levels.
Secondly there may not be any items in the area you are looking at. Thirdly check the "Map Legend" to ensure
the types of items you are looking for are ticked.
The map is very crowded with items and I can't click on them?
Zoom in some more, the items will resolve into separate icons.
How do I center and zoom in on the map?
Double click on the point you wish to center, the map will zoom in. Double right clicking the map will zoom out.
How do I drag the map?
Click on the map and hold the mouse button down, then drag the map with the mouse.
Why is the system much slower in satellite or hybrid modes?
The maps are downloaded from google's servers. The satellite and hybrid maps are much higher resolution and therefore larger so they take longer to load.
